I think they need to know that they hurt him by neglecting him on Father's Day, so I'm with ya. I was awfully selfish when I was younger, and I had to be told that it hurt my dad's feelings when I didn't call him to thank him for birthday presents and so forth. It had never occurred to me that he didn't just KNOW that I appreciated it and that I needed to make the effort to thank him. Kids are by nature self-centered and have to be taught to think of others.
