Date: 2002-08-24 02:38 pm (UTC)And I quote, from a long-ago LJ entry..
"Final thing, then I'm off to do homework. A while ago, I'd been corresponding with someone from the boards. Nice guy, smart, and we got along well. Agreed to meet for lunch, so I took an extended lunch break from work and we met. He was a little on the odd side, but hey- who the hell isn't? During lunch he commented about wanting to get back into writing, but first he needed something consistent that he would have to devote some time each day to. I of course suggested he start off with live journal. Hey, other Dopers do it. I gave him the link to the main page, and the link to my journal. We also talked about him coming out for the housewarming party. He said he'd go, but that he was rather introverted and I shouldn't expect too much from him socially. Not a problem, says I. Just the experience of meeting Dopers is a life-changing thing.. you don't have to be Mr. Party. Said our goodbyes, and headed off.
That afternoon I got the obligatory "had a really nice time, looking forward to the housewarming" email. Two days later I got an email that said (paraphrased, because I deleted all the email from him in a total fit) "If those are the kind of people that are going to be at your party, I'm not going. See ya." Needless to say, this totally pissed me off. So, here is my response (which, unless he's still poking about here, he'll never see, but it'll make me feel better). I've had to clean it up, since this isn't the Pit. ;)
::ahem::
Listen, you (****). You can say what you want about me. Some of it may be true, and some of it may be you blowing smoke out of your ass, but at least I can defend myself. But you don't, you never, ever, EVER, (****) with my friends. EVER. Not when they can't defend themselves, not even when they can. Because I'm a very loyal kind of cat. And I will tear you into bite-size pieces if you even think about putting down the people who have made my life so much more bearable. I made a piss-poor assumption. I thought since you were a pretty stable, long-term poster on the Boards that you were a tolerant, cool kinda guy. I was very, very wrong. You're no better than the ignorant people we fight. You (***) hypocrite. How can you post with these people every day, share in their lives, and at the same time think they're beneath you? You don't deserve to be in the same space as these fantastic individuals. If there was a way I could get you banned, I would do it in a heart beat. You make me sick. There's a difference between being shy and being a total (****). You're socially inept because you're a (****). That's not fixable. Hope you enjoy your lonely existence, freak."
End quote. So, ladies.. enough of a reason?
