I'm in process of improving the desk that's going to go into my study. That means a nice new coat of stain, new hardware, and a painted design on the doors. My problem comes from the design.. I thought I could transfer the design to wax paper and then us a lamp to shine it on the door, then paint it, but it's not working (that is, the design isn't showing up). I can't cut out the design and make a stencil. I *don't* want to do this freehand. Any ideas?

I hate, hate, hate not having any good craft stores around here. ::grumble::

You might try this: Make small holes in your waxed paper pattern in the outline (close enough together to get the right lines but not so close you can tear the paper easily) Then tape the paper to the wood and go over the outline with a pencil or pen that will show up on the wood.

Good luck!
