I'm having a crisis of shelving.

Where does Dianetics go? Misc. religion? Philosophy? Psychology? Fiction? No jokes about "in the trash." ::snort::

And incidentally, I have *way* more books than I thought. While I estimated for the shelves I had back at the other house, I neglected the fact that those shelves were full to bursting, with books stacked on top of each other. I'm going to need several more shelves just to handle what I have now, never mind what happens when I inevitably purchase more books. BUT... booky goodness!! Yay!!

I'd go with psychology, but only because that's the first category Amazon.com assigns it to.

Mmmm.. tried it, but the other psych books rebelled. It got pretty ugly, especially when the REBT books got involved.

Into misc. religious philosophy it goes, I guess.

We recently remodeled and made ourselves a little library. I had the SAME problem with some of my books. I finally decided to just make a shelf of hybrids. I was suprised to see how many I ended up placing there.

I've got a lot of cookbooks/folklore/art books. I didn't know this before the library - hehehe.

Oh, hells yeah. Been looking forward to this for ages. Plus it does my OCD good. :D

I solve the hybrid problem by having an umbrella category that goes from specific to general. So far I have:

Construction (interior, exterior, landscaping)
History (Ancient, American, a HUGE Civil War section, and misc)
Art
Parapsychology (hauntings, past lives, research, ESP, possession, aliens, misc)
Poetry
Classics
Religion (religious philosophy, witchcraft, magick, shamanism, Native American shamanism, Celtic, European, Western, Eastern, Christianity, Judaism, Satanism, misc)
Psychology (cognitive, cognitive behavioral, behavior modification, REBT, relationship, child/adolescent, spiritual/religious, depression, grief/death/dying, aging, substance abuse, anger, groups, research, professional practice, misc diagnosis, misc therapeutic orientations, misc textbooks)
Reference (all the "idiot's guide" and "for dummies," Straight Dope, financial, dictionaries, thesaurus, medical, MS and fibromyalgia, misc)
Fiction (sectioned first by "authors I have every book of" then by category- modern classic, bio/autobio, humor, horror, children, misc)

The cookbooks are all getting relegated to the pantry. There's simply no room. And the sex books get put elsewhere as well. ;)
