(no subject)

Hermes has been doing that shaking-head-scratching-ears combo for a week or two now. I checked his ears and it doesn't appear to be a mite problem, but you can never be too cautious. So, being a good and cautious cat owner, I went out and got some OTC ear mite treatment drops. Hermes was NOT impressed. Not with the towel imprisonment, not with having drops put in his ears, not with the rubbing of the base of the ears to insure proper drop placement, and certainly not with the cleanup with a slightly damp cloth. After I let him go, he looked straight at me and proceeded to shake his head violently, slinging ear mite drops ALL OVER THE PLACE. It was a good thing I was wearing my glasses.

Cat: 1; Human: 0.

Could be allergies. Did the ear mite stuff have brown gunk in it?

Before or after he slung it all over the place? ;) No, it was clear in both situations. I hadn't thought of allergies.. perhaps if it persists we're in for a visit to the doc..

My ears itch like hell when my allergies are starting. It starts well before the congestion and watery eyes.

Infernal creatures.

I don't know why we put up with them.

Oh, yeah.. they're cute. I'd forgotten.

Romeo tends to get yeast infections in his ears, which makes ear drops occassionally necessary. Like Hermes, he gets his revenge by shaking the foul-smelling drops all over whoever administers them. Of course, I don't think he's malevolent about it (as cats certainly are), just sort of stupid.

Well of course he can't be malevolent. He's a yellow lab. ;)
